St. Boniface, Manitoba, has long been the principal home of Franco-Manitobans in the province and ranks as the largest francophone community in Western Canada. The community was first settled in 1818 to meet the cultural and religious needs of the Red River Colony’s French and Métis inhabitants. A Francophone presence was thus established in the region before spreading throughout much of the future province of Manitoba. St. Boniface became the Catholic and Francophone capital of the nascent Red River settlement.  Generations later, this neighbourhood of Winnipeg thrives with a unique and historic architecture, successful businesses, a variety of attractions and a lively cultural scene.

This popular three-hour Winnipeg Bus Tours visits various areas and crowd-pleasing sites of the city. Hear the esoteric secrets of our Legislative Building, witness the tragic history of the St. Boniface Cathedral, learn the historical and international relevance of our downtown, and explore where it all started – The Forks National Historic Site and Market.

Scheduled Tours: A regularly scheduled public tour runs every Monday, Thursday and Saturday (May to October) and every Monday and Thursday (November to April) from 8:30 to 11:00 AM, departing from the VIA Rail Station. The cost is $30 per person and 15$ for kids under 17.
